About the Artist

(Born 1969) Shawna is a potter from Acoma signing her work "S. Garcia, Acoma N.M.".

Her husband is Patrick Rustin, an Apache artist.  Shawna was trained to make pottery by her parents Beatrice and Elliott Garcia, Sr. Shawna was awarded Best of Show, Best of Pottery, 1st at the New Mexico State Fair in Albuquerque in 2000 after having won Best of Show at the New Mexico State Fair in 1998.  

Shawna's favorite designs are birds, kiva steps, rain, clouds and mountains.  Her work is offered at the following galleries:  Bien Mur, Adobe Gallery and Skip Maesel's in Albuquerque.  She is featured in Gregory Schaaf's book Southern Pueblo Pottery 2,000 Artists Biographies.
