About The Striking Six Stone Silver Cuff

Known for his focus on turquoise in most of his jewelry designs, this piece is another fine example of Chee's love for the stone. The bracelet is a wonderful sampler of 6 different types of turquoise. Each one is freeform cut, retaining much of the original nugget shape!

Each stone, though part of the same mineral family, is unique. The Morenci oval cabuchon has crystals of translucent white quartz, against the dark blue, one can imagine thawing snow or flowers at twilight.

This is a fine piece, simple and straight forward in overall design. Yet within the structure of its natural elements, this cuff is beautifully diverse and complex.

About Mark Chee
"Mark Chee was an important Navajo silversmith in the mid 20th century. He is noted for his heavy silver stampwork jewlery with set stones. However, he also made "remarkably beautiful" sets of silver flatware. Chee worked as a benchsmith for Frank Patania and Al Packard in Santa Fe." The above was excerpted from American Indian Jewelry I 1200 Artist Biographies by Gregory Schaaf.
