Description: Box was forged from ingot, subsequently hammered and made into rolled sheet, enhanced with hand-made stamping.
Design: Opposing hatched slim crescents at center of lid are surrounded by scalloped designs struck on each side of the lid.

Lid closure is friction with raised bump on lower box fitting within raised bump on lip of box lid. Very basic, very sturdy tube 1/2" in length.

About Navajo

The Navajo were the first of the Native Americans of the Southwest to learn silversmithing from the Spanish. Most Navajo jewelry emphasizes silver, with turquoise stones used as an accent. Some pieces are cast in sand or tufa molds, while others are hammered, using a male stamp and a female die.
