Size: Size is 6 3/4 plus. Top of the ring is 15/16" in length X 9/16" in width. The height of the platform to the dome of the stone is 3/16".

Turquoise: Natural American from the Cerillos mine in New Mexico. Deep green with chocolate matrix.
Description: Single stone hand-cut oval measuring 3/4" in length, by 7/16" at widest point across center. Depth is 1/16" dome rise about 1/16" plus bezel which is hand cut with a smooth edge above a surrounding rope twist.
Design: The smooth bezel and rope twist around it are mounted on a nicely shaped rectangular platform accented by a silver drop on each corner.

About The Cerrillos Turquoise Ring

Carefully made with loving attention to detail. The artist took pride in his work. This ring was probably made for an early 20th century visitor to the Southwest. It certainly has that 1910 Harvey Company romantic look. Even though the automobile had just been invented and the roads were mostly dirt and planks.

This ring is the image of a kinder, gentler, more interesting time. It has been treasured for at least four generations.

About Navajo

The Navajo were the first of the Native Americans of the Southwest to learn silversmithing from the Spanish. Most Navajo jewelry emphasizes silver, with turquoise stones used as an accent. Some pieces are cast in sand or tufa molds, while others are hammered, using a male stamp and a female die.
