About Royal Doulton

Royal Doulton references English porcelain and china, taking its name from John Doulton. In 1815 Doulton, Martha Jones and John Watts formed Jones, Watts and Doulton (later evolving into the name of Doulton). By 1885 their world-class wares were being bought by an international clientele. In 1901 King Edward VII bestowed upon Doulton the honor of using "Royal" in their name. After World War II their production shifted to meet the needs of the middle class. Today, Royal Doulton continues to produce high quality works at modest prices, popular figurings and fine bone china as well as stoneware.
