Condition: Excellent. What appears as a crack has naturally healed and self-filled with matrix.
Turquoise: Natural Blue Gem turquoise with golden brown matrix. The stone is deep blue to teal in color.
Description: It was forged from ingot with file carved features. The shank was made from draw plate pulled wire.
Design: This ring has extraordinary attention to detail. The triple split shank from the side is topped with a frame bar into the side of the openwork butterfly concho which opens nicely into 3 parts of each side of the bezel set stone.

About The Artwork

Turquoise with matrix is female for prosperity/ fruitfulness. The almost butterfly concho shape of the frame around the setting is open work. The butterfly is a happy symbol of resurrection--metamorphosis. You will never see another ring with this detail and design, especially with an open work top. It is extremely rare--not a production piece by any means.

About The Artist

The Navajo were the first of the Native Americans of the Southwest to learn silversmithing from the Spanish. Most Navajo jewelry emphasizes silver, with turquoise stones used as an accent. Some pieces are cast in sand or tufa molds, while others are hammered, using a male stamp and a female die.
