Title: Polychrome Pottery Jar with Crack
Artist: Artist Unknown
Medium: Hand-coiled polychrome pottery
Size: 9 3/4" height X 6" diameter
Signed: Possibly beneath tape attached to pot's bottom
Date of creation: Circa 1955-1965
Condition: Fair. Very slender crack from rim is 4 1/2" in length. Approximately 9 small chips on rim 1/8" in length to a pinpoint in size. Surface is abraded in seven places clustered together. Shiny substance has spilled on pot's surface below abrasions.
Design: Signature humingbird or moth design within rondel in two places below rim.

About The Polychrome Pottery Jar with Crack

Clearly the same potter who executed the Hopi jar listed ahead of this one, made this fine example. Most likely they were made as a pair. Additional research aligns this pot with the work of Hattie Carl.
