Seated Male Nude (Sitzender mannlicher Akt)
- About The Seated Male Nude (Sitzender mannlicher Akt)
This image was first drawn by Mrs. Kollwitz in 1891. This impression was printed between 1963 and 1972, after the artist's passing. Surprisingly post-humous prints made by Kollwitz's original plates often retain a good deal of the emotive quality of the impressions produced during her lifetime.
- About Kathe Kollwitz
- Strong social convictions permeate Kollwitz's work. Both a sculptor and a printmaker. Kathe Kollwitz (born Kathe Schmidt) married a doctor. Karl Kollwitz yielding her new surname. Together they lived in the poorer quarters of northern Berlin.
Her work posed as a vehicle for social protest against the working conditions of the day as well as for World War I. Although many of her compositions focus on the great tragedies in life. she is well appreciated for her mother and child themes. Her name is forever linked with the art movement known as German expressionism.
I consider it a privilege to be able to offer her work for sale.
