About The Knifewing Tufa Stone Cast Pin

A knifewing you don't see every day. Two-part single piece tufa stone cast knifewing figure has applied fabricated bezels. One small slightly oval one near 1/8 across is set with a green Cerillos turquoise stone. The other is more triangular and is set in the "skirt". This stone is lighter green and also natural old Cerillos. The safety on the pin back is a barrier bar type. Haven't seen too many of these. This one has a subtle elegance. He is just the right size for vest, blouse, lapel--whatever you wish!

About Navajo

The Navajo were the first of the Native Americans of the Southwest to learn silversmithing from the Spanish. Most Navajo jewelry emphasizes silver, with turquoise stones used as an accent. Some pieces are cast in sand or tufa molds, while others are hammered, using a male stamp and a female die.
