About The Black Sun Separating Two Villages

In the early 1960's Max Kerlow, encouraged artistst from this area of Mexico to create paintings that could be more easily transported than the Mexican ceramics he had little luck in shipping without incident.  Consequently quite a number of artists gained recognition for their imaginative compositions on the bark paper.

Nicolas' depictions are far more elaborate than examples commonly found in gift shops.
