|About the Artist||Maria Martinez's son (1923-1971), this San Ildefonso potter, painter, silversmith and designer, collaborated with his mother to make pottery. His name translates to Red Fox. He was also known as Tony Martinez; Popovi-Da Martinez; Popovi Da Martinez; Popovi and Popovida.
Popovi Da also served as Governor of San Ildefonso Pueblo.
He is referenced in every major publication naming important American Indian paintings and pottery. Numerous museums are proud to include his pottery as well as his paintings. One volume indicates that after his father's death in 1943, "he did little painting".
