About the Artist

(Born 1952) A southwestern artist from birth, Carl Seely Dahl reflects on the stark beauty of the desert as having underscored a key metaphor for the human condition, the struggle to survive in this harsh but beautiful environment. His personal struggle to create beauty in the face of the desert drives his expression in art.

Dahl originally earned a BA in Philosophy from Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona in 1976 followed by a BS in Finance and an MBA in 1983. Eleven years later he earned his MFA in Sculpture, having decided to substitute the art world for the business arena. He had held jobs as a financial analyst, a corporate VP and later a corporate President before making the switch to fine art.

He has been represented by the Udinotti Gallery, first in San Francisco in 1990, then in Scottsdale through 1999. In 2001 he exhibited with Galerie Terre d’Art in Saint Paul, France, associating first with the Anne Loucks Gallery in Glencoe, Illinois in 2002. More recently since 2005 he has shown his work at the Susan Street Fine Art Gallery in Solana Beach, California, as well as the BoGena Galerie with a location in France and another in Singapore.
