About The Artwork

Sterling silver belt of articulate heavy construction with 21 bezel set Liberty/ Eagle silver dollars. Dates on the coins range from 1879 on the closure pendant piece through the 1880's and 1890's to four 1921 dollars. This creation drapes and feels wonderful at waist or hip!!!

About The Artist

The Navajo were the first of the Native Americans of the Southwest to learn silversmithing from the Spanish. Most Navajo jewelry emphasizes silver, with turquoise stones used as an accent. Some pieces are cast in sand or tufa molds, while others are hammered, using a male stamp and a female die.
