About The Cellist Bob T

Larkin excelled at depicting this forceful musicians "at work".

Cellist Bob T is an imposing, dramatic composition, more about the activity than the specifics of a person fingering his musical instrument.

About Eugene Larkin

(1921-2010) Larkin was born June 27, 1921 in Wayzata, Minnesota, son of the late John P. and Martha (VandeVere) Larkin. In 1947 he married his beloved wife Audrey, who remained at his side for 62 years until her death in January 2010.

He earned his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from the University of Minnesota. During a 60-year career, Eugene achieved regional and national notoriety as a teacher and practitioner of printmaking with works represented in the permanent collections of the Library of the Congress, the Museum of Modern Art and the Art Institute of Chicago.

He was a member of the faculty of the Minneapolis College of Art and Design and later the faculty of the University of Minnesota. He is remembered fondly as an inspirational teacher, colleague and friend. He was the author of "Design: the Search For Unity," a text on basic design and visual composition.
