Complete appraisal to accompany necklace created by a graduate gemologist:
The 54 and 57 pearls are strung, knotted on white silk. They have a cream bodycolor with slight rose and greenish overtones, medium luster and are well matched.
The sapphire measures 7.4 mm wide X 7/8 mm long X 4.65 deep having an estimated weight of 2.92 carts. Thorough gemological examination has been conducted to determine the nature and authenticity of this sapphire. The color is dark, slightly grayish, blue hue (GIA GemSet B 8/2), light included (GIA Type II, VS clarity - color zoning). The sapphire is held by four tabular corner prongs.
Forty (4) round cut diamonds surround the sapphire. The diamonds:
Two (2) 4.0 mm round early modern cuts, avrage 0.25 carat each, one VS2/ SI1 clarity and one SI2/ I1 clarity, each four pronged set. Four (4) 2.2 mm round brilliant cuts, average 0.05 carat each, VS1-SI1 clarities. Thirty four (34) 2.0mm, average 0.03 carat each, one is old single cut, others are round old European cuts and round European cuts, VS2-SI2 clarities (2 are chipped). Total estimated diamond weight in clasp is 1.72 carat with color grades H-I-J range. The diamonds are all bead set into section with millegrained borders.
The clasp is rectangular shaped with open cut designs on back.
