About The Artist

Jorge Andres Braun was born in Montevideo, Uruguay, in 1951. He attended the National Arts School, and studied along with other artists such as Riveiro and Garino. In 1972, he moved to the United States to pursue his artistic career. He traveled extensively through the United States and South America in search of inspiration for his paintings. Braun is often described as an impressionist painter who draws his main influences from Rembrandt. In his paintings, he enjoys rendering the southwest and its culture, including the Native Americans who faithfully inhabit the land. He pays particular attention to the lighting and shadows in his artwork. His first exhibition was held in 1959, and since then, he has been exhibiting all over the United States and Uruguay. Recently, in 2003, he had exhibitions at the RoGallery in New York, the La Galerie in Illinois, and Atelier de La Barra in Uruguay. His last solo exhibition was at the Uruguay Republic Bank Museum in 2000. He currently lives in Uruguay in his native Montevideo, but still visits to United States for more inspiration. He also goes by the name Jorge Tarallo.
