About The Becera (Young Bull)

This is an old mask showing signs of repeated wearings. It was probably used in La Danza de los Vaqueros (The Dance of the Cowboys).  See Donald Cordry Mexican Masks

Many Mexican fiestas feature a mock bullfight "dance" in which a boy in bull costume and with a bull mask over his head, charges the crowd while fireworks explode from a structure carried on his back.
