About The Artist

Alice Cling was born about 1946 in a hogan near Kayenta on the Navajo Nation in northern Arizona. She learned pottery from her mother, Rose Williams, who is renowned for her innovative Navajo pottery.

Alice Cling is featured in Pottery by American Indian Women by Susan Peterson, Treasures of the Navajo by Theda Bassman, Enduring Traditions by Lois Essary Jacka and Southwestern Pottery by Allan Hayes and John Blom.
