About Charles Simard

(Born 1943) Charles Simard, a Canadian artist, was born in Quebec City. He studied at the Ontario College of Art, at the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts and at the Ontario Academy of Arts.

Simard is recognized for his flowers and foliage, intimate garden and still life motifs. As a gardener and painter Simard follows the rhythm of the seasons with a passion. He is quoted as having said "All that matters in a garden as in a painting is emotion".

A member of the Royal Canadian Academy of Art, elected an Academician in 1983, Simard was also elected a member of the New York Society of Illustrators in 1977.
