Signed: "Alvin Yellowhorse Navajo Sterling" is inscribed in cursive writing on the ring's interior
Date of creation: Circa 1990's
Condition: Very good, as there is some wear evident on the ring's shank. Face of ring is entirely excellent.

Provenance: Consigned by a gentleman whose grandmother collected jewelry with flair CP 3087

About Alvin Yellowhorse

(Born 1968) Alvin Yellowhorse often signs his name coupled with a horse hallmark.

Active since 1988 as a contemporary Navajo jeweler, Yellowhorse uses channel inlay in combination with gold as well as silver. He has won 1st place prizes for his necklaces, his pins, pendants, earrings, rings, ketohs and bola ties. Garland's Indian Jewelry proudly sells this artist's work on a regular basis, as does Yazzie's Indian Art in Gallup, New Mexico and Palms Trading Company in Albuquerque.

Of course Yellowhorse was included in Gregory Schaaf's American Indian Jewelry I 1200 Artists Biographies as well as Barton Wright's authoritative publication 2000 Hallmarks of the Southwest.

Yellowhorse was recognized by the Smithsonian Magazine in their August 1999 issue, along with the Art Book Arizona doing a profile on his life. Each year this artist enters his jewelry into the Santa Fe Indian Market competition, he has won several blue ribbons.
