- Description:
- The 27 confederated tribes of Siletz are federally recognized, once inhabiting a range from northern California to southwest Washington. Approximately 4400 enrolled members were counted as of April 14, 2006. The current reservation is located along the Siletz River in the Central Oregon coast range of central Lincoln County, Oregon. Artifacts and historical documents are stored and displayed at the Siletz Tribal Cultural Center. Recommended reading includes: An Arrow in the Earth: Ganeral Joel Palmer and the Indians of Oregon by Terence O'Donnell (1991)and The Indians of Western Oregon: This Land was Theirs by Stephen Dow.
