About the Artist
(1883-1957) In 1918 Hasui began to produce prints. By 1923 he had more than 60 designs were published when an earthquake and subsequent fire in Tokyo destroyed most of his inventory of prints as well as his wood blocks. In response to Hasui's extensive travel throughout Japan, the artist left many hundreds of prints illustrating many aspects of both the seasons and the climate in Japan.
